Ransack

Meaning: Search or go hurriedly to find something through (a place) in such a way stealing things and causing damage leaving chaos.

Synonyms: Raid, plunder, pillage, rob, loot, sack, strip, despoil.

In Hindi: खोजना, ढूंढना, लूटना

Use: If you don’t have an emergency plan for power outages you’ll have to ransack your home for candles and matches.

The aspiring politician wasn’t surprised when the media started to ransack his background in search of newsworthy stories.
